Antonio Cardiello

Antonio Cardiello is a scholar, literary translator, and editor. Book review editor of the peer-reviewed journal Pessoa Plural, Cardiello is also a postdoctoral research fellow in Philosophy at the Nova Institute of Philosophy (IFILNOVA), New University of Lisbon, where he is also a member of CultureLab. His areas of expertise cover comparative approaches to Eastern and Western philosophical traditions, including Fernando Pessoa’s philosophical texts with a focus on Neopaganism. He has joint responsibility for the digitization of Fernando Pessoa’s Private Library (online since 2010). He is author of two bilingual companions to Pessoa’s studies: A Biblioteca particular de Fernando Pessoa and Os Objectos de Fernando Pessoa (with Jerónimo Pizarro and Patricio Ferrari; D. Quixote, 2010 & 2013). His most recent publications as editor include Una Stirpe incognita (EDB, 2016), Nietzsche e Pessoa. Ensaios (with Bartholomew Ryan and Marta Faustino; Tinta-da-China, 2016), Philosophy in the Condition of Modernism (with Ana Falcato; Palgrave Macmillan, 2018), and Fernando Pessoa and Philosophy: Countless Lives Inhabit Us (with Bartholomew Ryan and Giovanbattista Tusa; Rowan & Littlefield Publishers, 2021). He is also the editor of the first critical edition of The Complete Works of Álvaro de Campos (with Pizarro, Tinta-da-china, 2014), forthcoming in English with New Directions in 2023.
